Governor Eric J. Holcomb appointed Kari Pfau Estes to the Ports of Indiana Commission in November 2018.

Estes, of Jeffersonville, is a pediatric physical therapist who has worked with Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and First Steps, treating children with developmental delays, neurological, genetic, and orthopedic issues.

Estes’s family business, George Pfau Son’s, Co., was founded in 1869 and is in its fifth generation of family leadership. Estes earned her bachelor’s degree from Miami University and her master’s and doctorate degrees in physical therapy from Northwestern University.

Estes, who has four children, enjoys volunteering at Sacred Heart Model School. She is an alumnus of Delta Gamma and belongs to the GlenAyre Equestrian Center, through which she participates in events, considered the equestrian equivalent of a human triathlon. It consists of dressage, cross-country, and show jumping, and is a discipline involving equestrian balance, stamina, and precision.
