Gov. Eric J. Holcomb appointed Michael Browning to the Ports of Indiana Commission in Sept. 2017. Browning is the former president and CEO, and now chairman of the board, for Browning Investments, the largest developer of industrial distribution facilities in central Indiana.
Browning has been chairman of the board for Browning Investments since 2013 and was the company’s president and CEO from 1981 to 2013. The Indianapolis-based real estate development company’s portfolio includes large industrial parks, such as AirTech Park, AllPoints Midwest, AllPoints Anson, and several downtown office buildings totaling over 2 million square feet, including Capital Center, 300 North Meridian, Gateway Plaza, Landmark Center and Pan Am Plaza.
Michael has been honored as “Entrepreneur of the Year” by Ernst & Young and Inc. Magazine, Notre Dame “Man of the Year,” and a recipient of the “Sagamore of the Wabash” from Gov. Evan Bayh and Gov. Joe Kernan. He also serves as a board member and lead director of Duke Energy Corp. and the Indianapolis Indians. Previously, he served on the boards of Conseco Inc., Emmis Broadcasting Inc., the Seattle Mariners Baseball Club, and the Indiana National Bank, and was chairman and president of the Fidelity Bank of Indiana.
Michael holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Notre Dame, and has honorary doctorate degrees from Marian University and Martin University.
