Background:

James Hall joined the Ports of Indiana in November 2020 as general counsel. For nearly 20 years, Hall has been a noteworthy leader in the international logistics and U.S. trade compliance arena. He most recently served as a Trade Compliance Consultant for KPMG LLC. In this role, Hall developed global trade compliance programs for multinational clients, conducted legal research and advocated to ensure client’s satisfied US import/export regulations.

Hall is a Navy Veteran, having spent 5 years in the U.S. Navy and serving onboard the USS Samuel Gompers AD-37 during the Gulf War. In 1996, he became a licensed U.S. Customs Broker, passing one of the most difficult professional exams in the United States. He received a bachelor’s degree from Georgia State University and his doctorate of jurisprudence from Drake University Law School.

Hall enjoys working to find solutions between business objectives and governmental requirements. He vigilantly ensures rules and regulations are satisfied to optimize the organization’s competitive edge.

Hall is a native of the Midwest – originally from Davenport, Iowa and most recently lived in Houston, Texas. He is looking forward to returning to the Midwest with his two large dogs.
