Notice is hereby given that sealed bids for Chip Sealing & Pavement Striping, 2016, Contract 21605-C, at the Port of Indiana-Burns Harbor, Porter County, Ind., will be received at the office of the Port of Indiana-Burns Harbor, 6625 S. Boundary Road, Portage, Ind., 46368, from bidders until 2:30 p.m., Central Standard Time on Feb. 8, 2016, at which time the bids will be publicly opened and read aloud in the conference room of the port administration building.

The contract work consists of chip sealing and pavement striping of approximately 5.2 miles of existing roads at Port of Indiana-Burns Harbor. The scope of work includes applying a single asphalt emulsion course of binder with aggregate wearing surface on approximately 90,000 SY, edge and double centerline paint striping of approximately 5.2 miles of road, applying thermoplastic stop bars and railroad pavement markings, and placement of compacted aggregate at shoulders with severe rutting. All work will be done at Port of Indiana-Burns Harbor, Porter County, Ind.

Bids shall be submitted on the proper form and delivered in sealed envelopes bearing the name and address of the bidders as described in the Instructions to Bidders, which accompanies the Project Specifications. A Bidder’s Bond payable to the PORTS OF INDIANA must be enclosed with the bid. Said bond shall be in the minimum amount of five percent of the maximum bid.

The contract for this work shall be awarded or rejected as soon as possible but in no case later than 60 calendar days from the date of opening bids unless the 60th day shall fall on Saturday, Sunday or a legal holiday in which event said time shall be extended to the next working day. The Ports of Indiana reserves the right to reject any and all bids.

Project Plans and Specifications will be available to contractors on and after Jan. 21, 2016, at the Port of Indiana-Burns Harbor. A charge of $100.00 will be made for printed documents and $40.00 for the Project Plans and Specifications in PDF format on a CD. Copies of the Project Plans and Specifications in PDF format may also be provided via e-mail for $25.00. CHARGES ARE NONREFUNDABLE AND CHECKS OR MONEY ORDERS ONLY WILL BE ACCEPTED MADE PAYABLE TO THE PORTS OF INDIANA.
