Ports of Indiana website, Logistics Directory win international awards

[Aug. 2, 2016]

INDIANAPOLIS – The Ports of Indiana recently launched a new website and the latest edition of a logistics directory that have earned top international awards from the American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA), the trade association representing port authorities throughout the Western Hemisphere. The Indiana Logistics Directory earned an “Award of Excellence” and the new website www.portsofindiana.com received an “Award of Distinction,” both of which were the highest accolades given to any port in the Western Hemisphere for those categories. Ports of Indiana also received an “Award of Distinction” for its quarterly Portside magazine. The latest versions of the award-winning publications are available here.

“We are proud to receive these Communications Awards from the AAPA and be formally recognized for our proactive marketing efforts in telling Indiana’s unique transportation infrastructure story,” said Rich Cooper, CEO for the Ports of Indiana. “These two publications and website make it ‘job one’ to raise awareness about Indiana’s three ports and how they connect our Midwest state to world markets via the Great Lakes to the Atlantic Ocean as well as the Gulf of Mexico through the Inland Waterways System.”

The website features new flyover videos of all three of Indiana’s ports and special features that showcase open industrial sites as well as the world-class businesses and cargo services located onsite. The Indiana Logistics Directory is an annual publication that provides listings for nearly a thousand transportation and logistics services throughout the Midwest, state rankings for over 100 logistics categories and detailed maps showing critical freight networks for all modes. Portside magazine announces new projects at Indiana’s ports and details the services and competitive advantages that port businesses and facilities can offer to the multimodal industry. “When port authorities communicate strategically with their many audiences, including their communities, business leaders and policymakers, they’re better able to show their tremendous value as drivers of economic development, environmental enhancement and job creation,” said Kurt Nagle, AAPA’s president and CEO. “This competition helps our member ports by rewarding effective communications and highlighting best practices and lessons learned.”

This is the AAPA’s 50th annual Communications Awards program, giving 106 awards to 25 ports. The submissions were judged by public relations professionals in the Washington, D.C. area who cumulatively spent nearly 200 hours over three weeks judging the 15 classifications of entries, ranging from advertisements and periodicals to videos and websites. The awards will be presented this fall at AAPA’s 105th annual convention in New Orleans, Oct. 23-26.
