Transportation
Barge
Indiana's three ports in Burns Harbor, Mount Vernon and Jeffersonville are all connected
by the Inland Waterway System via the Ohio, Mississippi and Illinois rivers. This also
gives Indiana's ports year-round access to international ships in New Orleans.
Highway
Port of Indiana-Mount Vernon is located in Mount Vernon, Ind., on the Ohio River,
15 miles west of Evansville, Ind. The port's roadways do not have weight limits
and more than 50 trucking companies serve the Mount Vernon area.
Rail
The Port of Indiana-Mount Vernon is served by the Evansville Western Railway,
with 7-day-a-week switching service available to all tenants. The port enjoys
benefits from its close proximity to a major CSX classification yard and service
from a local shortline railroad.
