Chicago's O'Hare and Midway airports are easily accessible from the Port of Indiana-Burns Harbor.
The Gary/Chicago International Airport, just 14 miles away, has the second-longest runway in the
Chicago metro area. Other regional airports include Porter County Municipal, Michigan City Municipal
and Bannwart in Michigan City, LaPorte Municipal in LaPorte, Griffith-Merrillville in Griffith and
the Hobart Sky Ranch in Hobart.
Gary/Chicago International Airport
Strategically located within 25 miles and 35 minutes from downtown Chicago and 14 miles from the
Port of Indiana-Burns Harbor, Gary/Chicago International Airport offers convenient access to Chicagoland
and Northwest Indiana. Highway connections include I-90, I-80/94, I-65, the Chicago Skyway, the Dan
Ryan Expressway and Lake Shore Drive.
Porter County Municipal Airport
Porter County Municipal Airport occupies 718 acres one mile southeast of Valparaiso, Ind., just 20 miles
from the Port of Indiana-Burns Harbor. From this strategic location, it�s less than one hour Northwest
to Chicago, or northeast to South Bend by ground transportation. Porter County Municipal Airport is
Northwest Indiana's finest all-weather business and general aviation airport with an FAA estimate of
35,100 landings and departures per year. A wide variety of services are available at the airport
including meeting rooms, complete servicing of aircraft, facilities for passengers and crew members,
rental offices and runways to handle the largest business aircraft.
Midway International Airport
Midway International Airport is located 10 miles from downtown Chicago and 45 miles from the Port of
Indiana-Burns Harbor. Midway was awarded the 2004 Richard H. Driehaus Foundation Public Innovator Award
for Physical Design. Throughout the redevelopment of Midway, the airport experienced record-breaking growth
and today remains one of the fastest growing airports in the nation. Midway is a strong economic engine
for the region, generating close to $7 billion in economic activity each year and 90,000 jobs.
O'Hare International Airport
O'Hare International Airport, located 60 miles from the Port of Indiana-Burns Harbor, offers more connections
to more cities more often than any other airport in the world. In 2006, 56 passenger carriers operating out
of 178 gates carried more than 76.5 million passengers at O�Hare. In 2007, O�Hare International Airport won
the Global Traveler Award for Best Airport in North America.
