Role: Leads business development efforts and directs day-to-day operations for the port.

Background: Spent 24 years with the Procter & Gamble Co. where he served as head of corporate communications for P&G Western Europe as well as head of multicultural external relations for the U.S. business.

Bio: Scott Stewart joined the Ports of Indiana in October 2011 after serving 2 1/2 years in state government, first as Governor Daniels’ Senior Policy Director for Economic and Workforce Development, Transportation, and the Indiana National Guard, and most recently as Director of Strategy for the Indiana Department of Transportation.

Stewart spent over 24 years with the Procter & Gamble Company. His P&G career included managing communications for billion-dollar brands such as Pampers, Charmin, Bounty and Always in the U.S. and Western Europe. He also held leadership positions in trade associations supporting the personal care products industry in Washington, D.C. and Brussels, Belgium. After serving as head of corporate communications for P&G Western Europe, Stewart returned to Cincinnati to lead multicultural external relations for the U.S. business prior to his retirement in June, 2008.

A native of New Albany, Indiana, Stewart’s career began in New Albany city government, followed by his service on the staff of U.S. Senators Dick Lugar and Dan Quayle. He is a graduate of Indiana University Southeast with a degree in Business Economics & Public Policy. He is married to Christi, has two sons, Ben of Basel, Switzerland and Brian of New York City, and two step-children, Dustin of Cincinnati, OH and Hana of Lexington, KY.
